FESTIVAL ON THE FIELD 2014

What a fantastic day! So many great acts, lots of sun and our FANTASTIC band and choir.
Awesome photography by Glen Jevon.
This makes me smile a lot - so many different instruments, all playing their part.
Our new xylophones very kindly donated by Noadswood Sports College (they didn't have a use for them). As you can see, we do!
Flutes and percussion - one of our fab drummers adding an essential layer with a shaky egg. No drummer should ever be without one.
Team clarinet. These girls have learned to transpose their own music as a clarinet is in Bb (for anyone into the technicalities of music). If not, then it's a very important skill needed when being a musician and I know plenty of adult musicians that find this hard!
Top drumming. There are actually nine drummers in the band. They take it in turns on the kit, djembe drum, cajon, snare, toms, an array of percussive instruments and of course, the shaky egg.
Such a lovely pic of the band - they were so 'together' and really sounded on top form :) We also had the bonus of two of New Forest Brass play with us (who were on after us); what music is all about, really, everyone joining in, having fun.

 Getting everyone to join in!
Some of the festival was extremely hard work.
Balloons filled with helium were a hit.
After less than a year playing the cello and already performing on stage. The smile says it all.
Mr Vaughan's set with three Hythe students. And Mr Jevon!
The choir singing on Mr Vaughan's own song 'Fear and Self Loathing in Las Vegas'. Check out soundcloud to hear the original recording.

The choir showcasing some of their Royal Albert Hall songs.

So proud of these guys. They know they are good - and rightly so, because they have worked so hard to be at this level. Thanks to all who came and have supported music at Hythe Primary over the last year.
